NCUA Sign changes

NCUA Sign
The NCUA has changed the wording on their sign and some of the regulations surrounding its use. These are too numerous to mention here. Those that affect your website most are:
  • The sign now reads “Your savings federally insured to at least $100,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government”
  • A credit union may alter the official sign’s font sizes to ensure it is legible and visually prominent on a web page.
  • A credit union must replace the old version of the official sign with the revised official sign displayed on its Internet page where it accepts deposits or opens accounts by May 22, 2007.
This is our interpretation, please consult your auditor. More detailed and authoritative information can be found at the NCUA’s website, http://www.ncua.gov/ or download the letter.

Our Interpretation

As always, regulation and compliance is the ultimately the credit union’s responsibility. However, in the past, few (if any) auditors have complained about the way the NCUA notices are presented on our web sites. That said, our recommendation is to replace the graphics with the new graphic at the same size/resolution and update any associated text copy to the new copy. Note: Web Services will only update this at your request.
